Détails chateau LÉOVILLE BARTON

History and anecdotes

In the 19th century, the Léoville estate, in the Saint-Julien appellation, was one of the largest crus. It was later divided into three estates: Château Léoville Las Cases, Château Léoville Barton, and Château Léoville Poyferré. A part of the Léoville estate was purchased in 1826 by the Irishman Hugh Barton, marking the birth of Château Léoville Barton, which is still owned by the Barton family. The finesse of its wines allowed it to be classified as a 2nd Grand Cru during the 1855 classification.
