CHATEAU D'YQUEM

SAUTERNES, 1988

Description

The bouquet is identical to what I encountered with the previous bottles, with scents of marmalade, tangerine, burnt honey and citrus fruit, perhaps a little more waxy and resinous than I remember. The palate is medium-bodied, impressively heavy, viscous as you'd expect, but not as flamboyant as the 1989 or as unctuous as the 1990. It's beautifully balanced with notes of apricot, white chocolate and orange peel towards the harmonious, taut finish. "Robert Parker

CHATEAU Ausone

saint-emilion, 1982

Description

In Bordeaux, the 1982 vintage is exceptional. It is comparable to 1945 or 1961. Climatic conditions were perfect, resulting in an extraordinary harvest quality. The wines are concentrated, rich and aromatically complex.

CHATEAU LEOVILLE LAS CASES

SAINT-JULIEN, 1988

Description

Wow. Really young on the nose, with redcurrant, blackberry and hints of vanilla bean. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and lots of mint and fruit. Goes on for a long time. Surprisingly young. Give it a few years. So concentrated and beautiful." - James Suckling
