Wines of the World

From the United States to Italy, passing through South Africa, vines are cultivated on almost every continent. The diversity of wine styles stems from a mosaic of planetary terroirs shaped by passionate winemakers' hands.

The American Vineyard

The American wine landscape is vast and varied, stretching from the Atlantic coasts to the Pacific shores, passing through the wide plains of the Midwest. Among the vineyards of California, the leading wine-producing state in the United States, are the prestigious regions of Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley.

Renowned for the diversity of its terroirs, Sonoma County offers a landscape of lush valleys, rolling hills, and spectacular coastlines bathed in sunlight. It is in this idyllic setting, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, that Pierre Seillan, originally from Bordeaux, produces the majestic wines of the Domaine Vérité. With his "micro-cru" philosophy and commitment to excellence, he crafts one of the world's greatest cuvées made from 100% Merlot, Muse, which reveals the full depth and exceptional texture of this grape variety.

Also in California is the legendary vineyard of Napa Valley. World-renowned, Napa Valley is famous for its exceptional wines, embodying the perfect union of terroir, climate, and winemaking expertise. Among the most prestigious wineries in the valley, Opus One and Harlan Estate stand out for their commitment to excellence and their relentless pursuit of perfection.

Opus One Winery, founded through the collaboration between winemaker Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, symbolizes the harmonious union between the old and new worlds. This exceptional winery bears many similarities to the greatest Bordeaux châteaux, but each vintage embodies the very essence of Napa Valley, capturing the soul of its terroir in a bottle.

Harlan Estate is also an icon of excellence in the California wine region. Located in Oakville, Harlan Estate benefits from a unique terroir and ideal climatic conditions for growing and maturing Bordeaux grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot). The volcanic soils rich in minerals give the wines remarkable depth and complexity.

Spain, Between Tradition and Winemaking Innovation

Spain, the birthplace of a millennia-old winemaking tradition, offers a vineyard of incredible diversity, reflecting the richness of its landscapes, climates, and terroirs. From the sunny Mediterranean coasts to the arid plateaus of the interior, each Spanish wine region has unique characteristics that are reflected in its wines.

The landscapes vary from north to south, from the lush Pyrenean mountains to the vast plains of the Meseta Central, passing through the rolling hills of Rioja and Ribera del Duero. The Spanish terroirs are just as diverse, with clay, limestone, sandy, and stony soils that give each region its distinctive characteristics. Indigenous grape varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, Monastrell, and Albariño thrive in these diverse terroirs.

Iconic producers like the Torres family have contributed to the global fame of these wines, combining tradition and innovation to offer exceptional cuvées.

Among the most renowned regions are Rioja and its elegant and complex wines, particularly the red wines made from the Tempranillo grape. Aging wines is a central practice in this region. Categories such as Crianza*, Reserva, and Gran Reserva mentioned on labels indicate the aging duration in oak barrels and bottles.

Vega Sicilia, located in the Castile and León region, is one of the most prestigious estates in Spain. It is renowned for its exceptional red wines, including the famous Único, a blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. These wines embody the quintessence of aging, with extended periods in barrels and bottles, giving them incomparable complexity, depth, and elegance.

Ribera del Duero, another coveted region also located in Castile and León, is known for its powerful and structured red wines made from Tempranillo. Locally known as Tinto Fino or Tinta del País, the Pingus estate, founded by Peter Sisseck, is an absolute reference in the region, producing wines of great concentration and remarkable intensity. Pingus highlights the potential of Tempranillo in optimal growing and winemaking conditions, offering wines that defy conventions and push the boundaries of excellence.

Surrounded by the majestic Sierra de Montsant mountains, the Priorat region offers breathtaking panoramas. The vineyards stretch across steep hills and offer spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Iconic grape varieties such as Grenache and Carignan, combined with other international varieties, express the beauty and diversity of Priorat's landscapes, under the guidance of Álvaro Palacios, synonymous with winemaking prestige. Álvaro Palacios' wines stand out for their concentration, aromatic depth, and silky tannins, the result of meticulous winemaking that respects the unique character of each parcel. Each bottle reflects the excellence and passion of this winemaker in creating exceptional wines.

Finally, the Gran Reserva mention indicates that the wines have been aged for five years, with at least 24 months in oak barrels.
