En primeurs 2023

Vision of the 2023 Vintage
“The 2023 vintage of Canon is the reconciled fruit of a year marked by contrasts. Rigor, vigor. A threatening sky that awakens the energy of the vine. Presence, distance. People who intervene while stepping back. Waiting, surprise. Familiar grape varieties that create astonishment.” – Château Canon

Viticulture
Winter was mild and dry, followed by a cool and humid spring that allowed for beautiful flowering. The summer was contrasting, with an initial period of heat and humidity, then a phase of coolness, followed again by heat and drought. Weather conditions were favorable for the harvest, with a lovely Indian summer.

Harvest
The Merlot harvest took place from September 6 to October 4, while the Cabernet Franc was harvested between September 20 and October 3. Yields were on target at 45 hl/ha.

Vinification
Parcel-based and intra-parcel vinification took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.

Aging
The wine was aged in 50% new oak, including 3 large casks, for 16 to 18 months.

Tasting – Château Canon 2023
“Canon defies all expectations. Flowers, subtlety, length. The 2023 vintage takes a delicate flight. The air, a distiller of infinite nuances that blend and expand. In these high spheres, a floral choir and raspberry notes. Pepper, mint, in an ethereal punch. Limestone reigns in silence. Lingering, tingling tongues – a saline finale. All the intensity of the Canon signature.” – Château Canon
