L'écorce d'orange est également présente. Corsé et compact, avec un superbe noyau de tanins épais et veloutés et une finale juteuse. En primeurs 2023

Vintage
2023 marks the 130th vintage of the Manoncourt Family at Château Figeac. The winter was marked by abundant rainfall, helping to replenish underground water reserves. The summer was hot, dry, and early. However, in the face of these challenges, the commitment of the Château Figeac team and the uniqueness of the terroir made it possible to manage the vineyard with precision.

Harvest
The Merlots were harvested from September 6 to 15, while the Cabernets were picked from September 27 to October 5. The 2023 harvest took place in two phases with a significant 12-day gap. This gap reflects the desire to harvest at the moment when technological ripeness and the phenolic and aromatic profile align perfectly to produce complex Cabernets that are true to the identity of Château Figeac.

Wine Profile
“Intense, the nose charms with its complexity and elegance. The purity of the fruity bouquet reflects a perfectly mastered ripeness of the three grape varieties. Each variety in the blend adds its own personality: hints of blackcurrant from the Cabernet Sauvignon, a delicious strawberry aroma from the Merlot, and a delicate floral note from the Cabernet Franc. Beyond the vibrant fruitiness, a mineral sequence emerges, rather saline, a testament to the gravel soils of the vineyard. Harmony and balance are carried by a juicy, generous Merlot sprinkled with the spicy and floral notes of the Cabernets. An incredible, persistent freshness concludes the tasting with great emotion.” – Château Figeac

History and anecdotes

Château Figeac is classified “B” as Premier Grand Cru in Saint-Emilion appellation. The estate would be named after the Figeacus family who, in the 2nd century, settled where the actual Château is.

The estate's history started in the 15th century. Several owners succeeded each other and some of them sold plots which are now part of the Cheval Blanc vineyard. In 1892, the estate became the Manoncourt family’s property. Thierry Manoncourt, forerunner of the vineyard scientific approach, is behind the creation of the Figeac style.

Figeac’s nickname is “the most Medoc of the Saint-Emilion” because of its atypical grape varieties mainly composed of Cabernet.

The estate has 12 hectares of pasture, 100-year-old trees, as well as a large orchard, which is in favour of biodiversity and the development of pollinating insects.
