" Unsurprisingly, this wine is closed, masculine, but extremely rich, with a denser, fuller, and more full-bodied style than its sibling, Langoa Barton. Some notes of toasted vanilla emerge in the aromas of blackcurrants mixed with tobacco leaves, cedar, and spices. This full-bodied wine displays a significant amount of tannins, which is not unusual for this estate, along with an impressive finish of remarkable purity and length. Everything is in place, but this wine, crafted with an uncompromising vision, is designed for exceptionally long cellar aging. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035. " - Robert Parker

歴史と逸話

19世紀、サンジュリアンのアペラシオンに位置するレオヴィルのエステートは、最も大きなクリュの1つでした。その後、レオヴィル・ラス・カーズ城、レオヴィル・バートン城、レオヴィル・ポワフェレ城の3つのエステートに分割されました。1826年、アイルランド人のヒュー・バートンによってレオヴィルの一部が購入され、シャトー・レオヴィル・バートンが誕生しました。バートン家が所有するこのシャトーは、今でもその名を継いでいます。1855年の格付けにおいて、繊細なワインの品質により、2級グラン・クリュに分類されました。
