En primeurs 2024

Vintage 2024, “all hands on deck”
Cape Horn or Lafite 2024
“From the start, 2024 had us sailing through heavy waters, with over 1000 millimetres of rainfall from the end of the previous harvest until April. Fortunately, the crews stand united: this is not their first crossing. We communicate with our eyes, we have the right instincts, brought on by our organic practices, and we began protecting our vines very early.” - Château Lafite Rothschild

Viticulture
The season began with budbreak on April 2nd, followed by close monitoring of the vineyard’s health until the end of June to protect it from downy mildew. Mid-flowering occurred on June 9th, and from June 25th onward, the days became milder and more temperate. August 7th marked mid-veraison, and by the end of August, berry ripening was well underway, the result of a beautiful summer.

Harvest
Merlot harvesting began on September 23rd, while the Cabernets were harvested starting in early October.

Winemaking
The vinifications were short, with gentle extractions and carefully selected pressings.

Details chateau LAFITE ROTHSCHILD

Histoire et anecdotes

The history of Château Lafite Rothschild dates back to the 13th century. Until the 17th century, the estate was a co-seigniory, with the owners receiving rents from farmers who cultivated the lands, some of which were already dedicated to vine cultivation. Between 1670 and 1680, Jacques de Ségur restructured the vineyard. In 1695, Jacques de Ségur's son married the heiress of Château Latour, thus uniting the histories of the two estates for several decades.
