En primeurs 2024

Vintage 2024, “The Unpredictable”
“After working alongside his father for five years, Hubert de Boüard de Laforest marks his 40th vintage in 2024—an important milestone that his daughter, Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, wished to acknowledge and honor.
Named “The Unpredictable,” this vintage embodies the taste of adversity and challenge—two powerful motivators that have always enabled Angélus to produce exceptional wines.” – Château Angélus
To commemorate the occasion, the 2024 Angélus bottle features unique packaging: the number 40 surrounded by 40 lines symbolizing a vine's cross-section.

Viticulture
Winter and part of spring were wetter than average. The saying “August makes the must” proved true once again: the sunny months of July and August supported the grapes' ripening.

Harvest
Harvesting occurred under uncertain skies, yet this did not prevent a good yield and excellent grape quality.

Wine Profile
2024 shares characteristics with 2022, 2020, and 2018.
According to Château Angélus: “The deep, violet hue reflects the Bordeaux climatic identity of this vintage.
The initial nose is bright and opulent, revealing the Merlots' full maturity before giving way to the Cabernet Franc's delicacy and complexity, with spicy, minty, and floral nuances. Violet and peony enrich the peppery notes.
The palate is juicy, flavorful, and energetic, immediately revealing dense, rich tannins with a cashmere touch. Subtle oak supports the wine, completing this balanced structure and promising excellent aging potential.”

Details chateau ANGELUS

History and anecdotes For eight generations, the Château has been owned by the de Boüard de Laforest family. The Angelus vineyard is located in the heart of a natural amphitheater, dominated by the three churches of Saint-Emilion. In this privileged site, sounds amplify, and in the past, one could hear the bells ringing the Angelus in the morning, at noon, and in the evening. In 2012, the Château was classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A in the Saint Emilion Classification. Today, Stéphanie de Boüard - Rivoal leads the estate.
