En primeurs 2024

Vintage 2024, “all hands on deck”
The Azores Archipelago or Carruades 2024
“A beloved stopover for sailors before their Transatlantic journey, the Azores form an archipelago of 9 islands, often protected by a magical anticyclone.
For Carruades 2024, we sail there on a sprightly ketch, a two-masted boat that requires twice as much precision and anticipation to remain balanced in rough weather.” - Carruades de Lafite

Viticulture
The season began with budbreak on April 2nd, followed by close monitoring of the vineyard’s health until the end of June to protect it from downy mildew. Mid-flowering occurred on June 9th, and from June 25th onward, the days became milder and more temperate. August 7th marked mid-veraison, and by the end of August, berry ripening was well underway — the result of a beautiful summer.

Harvest
Merlot harvesting began on September 23rd, while the Cabernets were picked starting in early October.

Details chateau CARRUADES DE LAFITE

History and anecdotes Carruades de Lafite is the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild. The chateau is located in the Médoc, in the Pauillac appellation and is a premier cru classé in 1855. The history of Chateau Lafite Rothschild begins in the 13th century. Until the 17th century, the estate is co-seigniory and some lands are already dedicated to the culture of the vine. Between 1670 and 1680, Jacques de Ségur structured the vineyard and in 1868, Baron James de Rothschild acquired the château.
