En primeurs 2024

Vision of the 2024 Vintage
“2024 is a year of conviction. A season of rare intensity, teams elevated by commitment — and a superb wine that triumphed over doubt.” - Château Canon

Viticulture
2024 is the first vintage certified organic for Château Canon. Winter was mild and rainy. Regular rainfall continued through spring. Summer set in at the end of July. Autumn brought humidity and coolness. As the seasons changed, the teams supported the growth of the vines and grapes. When experience alone wasn’t enough, they turned to analysis to guide their decisions.

Harvest
Merlot was harvested from September 19 to October 1, while Cabernet Franc was picked from October 1 to October 9. Yields were strong at 44 hl/ha.

Vinification
Parcel-by-parcel vinification was carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using a gravity-flow system.

Aging
The wine was aged in 49% new oak barrels and 6% large wooden vats (foudres) for 16 to 18 months.

Tasting Château Canon 2024
“Purple reveals its floral palette: violet, lilac, and rose petals. Then comes the red of summer fruits: strawberries, raspberries, and juicy watermelons. Green makes a breezy appearance: rosemary, mint, and blackcurrant bud, as if stolen from Sauvignon. In short, nerve and envelope. In one stroke, texture and tension. A savory energy prolonged by a hint of fleur de sel, the echo signature of the limestone terroir.” - Château Canon
