2022 En Primeur wine guide
What are En Primeur wines?
En Primeur is an annual event held in Bordeaux at the end of April. During En Primeur week, producers sell their new wines before they are bottled and released onto the market, helping to finance the following year's production. The wines are tasted as soon as they leave the fermentation vats, and are still very young. Buyers can estimate their long-term aging potential and secure an allocation. Buyers reserve and pay a deposit to secure their purchase, giving producers cash for the aging process and reducing the risks associated with immobilizing the wine.
Why buy En Primeur wines?
Bordeaux wines are reputed to be among the finest in the world, and by buying "en primeur", consumers have the opportunity to reserve these rare and exclusive wines before prices rise and quantities become scarce.
How to buy En Primeur wines?
En Primeur sales are accessible to private individuals via online sales. Maison Wineted offers you a selection of rare and iconic Bordeaux Grands Crus. We offer you access to prestigious wines, often inaccessible otherwise.
When can I taste them?
It can take a few years from the time you order to the time you taste the wines. Delivery of the bottles can take at least two years, and to be appreciated, the wine will need to rest in the cellar for a minimum of 5 years.
What's the 2022 vintage like?
The year 2022 is shaping up to be the best vintage of the century, surpassing the excellent vintages of recent years 2018, 2019 and 2020. Despite a summer marked by drought and high temperatures, the vines have shown surprising resilience, adapting to the conditions and drawing on the reserves accumulated in 2021. It's important to follow the scores and comments of journalists and critics to get an idea of the vintage.
