History and anecdotes
The English General Charles Palmer acquired the estate in 1814 and gave it his name in the 1830s. The Peireire brothers, influential bankers, bought Château Palmer in 1853, shortly before its classification as a 3rd growth in 1855. They built the emblematic château we know today.
In 1938, the estate was bought by four great Bordeaux merchant families, the Ginestet, Mihailhe, Mähler-Besse and Sichel. Today, the last two families are the owners, and since 2004, the management has been entrusted to Thomas Duroux, an agricultural engineer and oenologist.

2022 VINTAGE | Despite a contrasted climate, this 2022 vintage bears the promise of powerful wines, a precise texture, and a harmony capable of holding its own. |
WINEGROWING | The 2022 vintage withstood the difficult weather conditions and expressed the complexity of Château Palmer's wines. After a wet autumn, a moderately rainy winter brought mildness and freshness to the vineyards. The uniform budburst of the Merlot grapes marked the start of the vintage on 22nd March. Despite intense frosts in April, the impact on the vines was limited. May was a sunny month, with rapid flowering in hot, dry conditions. Beneficial thunderstorms in June were followed by a scorching summer with no significant rainfall until mid-August. Downy mildew pressure was reduced, but the lack of water affected the growth of the vines. Harvesting began on the 7th of September, with berries of reduced weight but with an imposing tannic structure. Fermentation went smoothly, demonstrating the clarity of the Palmer terroir. Blending took place in November, and the 2022 vintage promises powerful, harmonious wines that reflect the precision and quality of the terroir. |
HARVEST | Harvesting began on the 7th of September and finished on the 5th of October 2022. The yield was 22 hl/ha. |
