"This classic St.-Julien, closed and tannic, is crafted in the style of the 1996 and 1986 vintages. The Ducru Beaucaillou 2006 features a dense purple color accompanied by a smooth aroma of graphite, black raspberries, blackcurrant, licorice, and subtle toasted oak. Despite the prominence of tannins in the wine's structure, the softness of the tannins and its full-bodied, muscular style suggest that exceptional patience will be required. This is an imposing, substantial, fleshy, and masculine wine designed for great longevity. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2035." - Robert Parker

History and anecdotes
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Second Growth wine classified under the 1855 classification in the Saint-Julien appellation. It was founded over 300 years ago. Located near the Gironde estuary, it owes its name to its "beautiful stones," Günzian gravel carried over two million years ago by the Gironde River. The Borie family acquired it in 1941.
