CHATEAU DUCRU-BEAUCAILLOU, 2004

SAINT-JULIEN

"One can only praise the efforts that Bruno Borie dedicates to this magnificent estate, which I have often described as the 'Lafite Rothschild of Saint-Julien.' An undeniable success, the Ducru 2004 reveals soft aromas of crème de cassis, spring flowers, toasted bread, licorice, and tar. This pure, medium-bodied wine features moderately elevated tannins, superb concentration, pleasant smoothness, and low acidity." - Robert Parker

History and anecdotes
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Second Growth wine classified under the 1855 classification in the Saint-Julien appellation. It was founded over 300 years ago. Located near the Gironde estuary, it owes its name to its "beautiful stones," Günzian gravel carried over two million years ago by the Gironde River. The Borie family acquired it in 1941.
