Histoire et anecdotes

The history of the Château dates back to the 13th century, when there is mention of a fortress known as the “Château de la Mothe de Margaux.” It was in the 15th century that the vineyard was structured, abandoning cereal cultivation in favor of viticulture. In 1855, the vineyard was awarded the title of Premier Grand Cru Classé. The second wine has been marketed since the beginning of the 20th century. The estate was sold in 1977 to André Mentzelopoulos, who undertook major modernization work. Today, his daughter Corinne continues his legacy.
