CHATEAU TROTANOY, 2005

POMEROL

"This exceptional 2005 vintage boasts a dense ruby/purple color, with aromas and flavors of sweet black cherries, cassis, earth, and white chocolate. A powerful, mineral-driven wine (90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc), it is extremely closed, super-concentrated, and evokes more of the 'blood of Merlot' than any other Pomerol. With a dense purple hue, ultra-richness, and breathtaking complexity, this wine has a potential for evolution over 20 to 30 years. An absolutely spectacular effort from this great terroir, it can be enjoyed now, but patience will be richly rewarded." - Robert Parker

History and anecdotes
This illustrious estate, whose name in old French meant 'trop anoi' or 'too much trouble' (referring to the labor required for working the land and the vineyard), was acquired in the 18th century by the Giraud family, royal brokers in Libourne. The family decided to advantageously change the name of the estate to 'Trotanoy.' Château Trotanoy was purchased in 1953 by Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix, who have been operating it since.
