CHATEAU TROTANOY, 2002

POMEROL

"Deep plum/ruby with a nose of new saddle leather, damp earth, truffles, black cherries, and minerals, this wonderfully endowed, powerful, and masculine wine possesses plenty of muscle and tannin. However, I wonder if the necessary depth of fruit/extract is present to balance the wine's structure." - Robert Parker

History and anecdotes
This illustrious estate, whose name in old French meant 'trop anoi' or 'too much trouble' (referring to the labor required for working the land and the vineyard), was acquired in the 18th century by the Giraud family, royal brokers in Libourne. The family decided to advantageously change the name of the estate to 'Trotanoy.' Château Trotanoy was purchased in 1953 by Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix, who have been operating it since.
