CHATEAU ANGELUS, 2010

SAINT-EMILION GRAND CRU

"This is another magnificent wine. What a pleasure it will be to organize future tastings with the 2000, 2005, 2009, and 2010 vintages to see which one reigns supreme! All these vintages are contenders for near-perfection, depending on their stage of evolution. The 2010 exhibits a color similar to the 2009, but perhaps even more opaque, which seems almost impossible. Subtle notes of barbecue smoke, graphite, blackberry liqueur, licorice, and chocolate burst from the glass, and the wine floods the palate with a thunderous cascade of sweet, velvety, expansive, and concentrated black fruits, beautifully defined by tannins and balanced acidity. The wine delivers a majestic, complex finish that lasts a full minute. This stunning wine is still terribly young and partially undeveloped, but it is just as prodigious as its elder sibling, the 2009. It will likely follow a slightly slower evolutionary trajectory. However, it promises a longevity of 50 years." - Robert Parker

History and anecdotes
For eight generations, the Château has been owned by the de Boüard de Laforest family. The Angelus vineyard is located in the heart of a natural amphitheater, dominated by the three churches of Saint-Emilion. In this privileged site, sounds are amplified, and in the past, one could hear the bells ringing the Angelus in the morning, at noon, and in the evening. In 2012, the Château was classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A in the Saint-Emilion Classification. Today, Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal runs the estate.
