CARRUADES DE LAFITE, 2006

PAUILLAC

"The second wine, which has significantly improved in quality over the past decade, is a remarkable effort displaying a character similar to that of Lafite, without its size, depth, and aging potential. The Carruades de Lafite 2006 reveals aromas of graphite, cedar, blackcurrant, ripe cherries, and smoked herbs. This complex offering, more evolved, features a medium body with a silky and alluring texture." - Robert Parker

History and anecdotes

Carruades de Lafite is the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild. The château, located in Médoc within the Pauillac appellation, was classified as Premier Cru in 1855. The history of Château Lafite Rothschild dates back to the 13th century. Until the 17th century, the estate was a co-seignory, with some lands already dedicated to vine cultivation. Between 1670 and 1680, Jacques de Ségur organized the vineyard. In 1868, Baron James de Rothschild acquired the château.
