History and anecdotes
Carruades de Lafite is the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild. The château, located in Médoc within the Pauillac appellation, was classified as a First Growth in 1855. The history of Château Lafite Rothschild dates back to the 13th century. Until the 17th century, the estate was a co-seigneury, and some lands were already dedicated to viticulture. Between 1670 and 1680, Jacques de Ségur structured the vineyard. In 1868, Baron James de Rothschild acquired the château.
