CHATEAU TROPLONG MONDOT, 2010

SAINT-EMILION GRAND CRU

" Inky blue, black, and purple, with notes of spring flowers, licorice, camphor, graphite, and a great deal of blueberries, black raspberries, and blackberries, this is a powerful and full-bodied Troplong Mondot. All the constituent elements of acidity, tannin, wood, and alcohol are judiciously and remarkably integrated. It is a blend of 90% Merlot and equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, crafted by Christine Valette and her husband Xavier Pariente, with the assistance of Michel Rolland. I am not sure what the heady alcohol content of the 2010 Troplong Mondot is (it must certainly be around 15% or higher), but it is well hidden behind the extravagance, richness, full-bodied power, and pure nobility of this majestic wine. Forget it for 5 to 7 years and enjoy it over the next three decades. " - Robert Parker
