CHATEAU TROPLONG MONDOT, 2006

SAINT-EMILION GRAND CRU

"It might be easy, after tasting the monumental 2005, to dismiss the Troplong Mondot 2006, but don't be so foolish. The owner, Christine Valette, has delivered yet another exceptional performance. Of course, it isn't the 2005 – a singular vintage that will be hard to replicate over the next 20 to 30 years – but the Troplong Mondot 2006 is an impressive, powerful, broad wine, surprisingly masculine and deep. Its inky/blue/purple color is complemented by an exceptional bouquet of powdered rocks, blackberries, blueberries, spring flowers, and hints of camphor and espresso roast. The wine is full-bodied, with a multidimensional texture, sensational purity and structure, and high levels of tannins, concentration, and richness. Forget about it for 7 to 8 years, then enjoy it over the following 20 to 25 years." - Robert Parker
