CHATEAU GISCOURS, 2005

MARGAUX

" The Giscours 2005 is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, and the remainder consists of small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from this vast estate. It is bursting with blue, red, and black fruits, licorice, spices, with a hint of oak in the background and earthy notes. It is medium to full-bodied, offering soft and velvety tannins, along with impressive purity and length. This wine is already showing great qualities and should continue to evolve gracefully for another 12 to 15+ years. Best to drink between 2015 and 2030. " - Robert Parker

History and anecdotes

Château Giscours is located in the Médoc within the Margaux appellation. It was classified as a 3rd Grand Cru in 1855. In 1995, the Albada Jelgersma family acquired shares in Château Giscours, which had been owned by the Tari family since 1954. Since then, the estate has been managed by businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma.

The foundation of the Giscours estate dates back to the 14th century, when it was merely a fortified keep.
