CHATEAU GISCOURS, 2003

MARGAUX

" Is this the best Giscours since that era? Excellent depth, fleshy and smooth with ripe tannins. Great purity typical of Margaux. Intense aromas of stewed fruits and prunes. Full-bodied with a rich, ripe fruity character. Soft, round tannins and a long finish. Heady and rich. Resembles a Port. Could be a modern version of the legendary 1970 vintage. " - James Suckling

History and anecdotes

Château Giscours is located in the Médoc within the Margaux appellation. It was classified as a 3rd Grand Cru in 1855. In 1995, the Albada Jelgersma family acquired shares in Château Giscours, which had been owned by the Tari family since 1954. Since then, the estate has been managed by businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma.

The foundation of the Giscours estate dates back to the 14th century, when it was merely a fortified keep.
