CHAPELLE D'AUSONE, 2005

SAINT-EMILION GRAND CRU

“Ausone's second wine is better than most other Saint Emilions but there are only 500 cases of it in 2009. A 70:30 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, receiving the same elevage as the Grand Vin itself. This has a very strong resemblance to its big brother with wonderful freshness, focus, intensity and definition. Opulent black fruit with a velvety texture. Super-silky, elegant and long. Even this humble second wine ranks among the best in St Emilion this year.” - Farr Vintners

History and anecdotes

Chapelle d’Ausone is Château Ausone's second wine, located in Saint-Emilion, and classified “A” as Premier Grand Cru.

Château Ausone has belonged to the Vauthier family since the end of the nineties. The estate’s history is really old, and dates back to the 13th century, only 5 families have succeeded each other in the estate’s management.

Château Ausone was named after an iconic Roman antiquity character, Decimus Magnus Ausonius, political advisor and teacher.
