CHATEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD, 2010

PAUILLAC

" The Lafite Rothschild 2010, a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot (a difference of 3% compared to the barrel sample presented two years ago), reached a relatively high alcohol level of 13.32%, according to the administrator Charles Chevalier. The wine is very impressive, not as fleshy, flamboyant, and massive as the 2009, but nonetheless a powerful, rich, and structured Lafite-Rothschild, destined to age for half a century or more. Deep violet in color, with notes of white chocolate, mocha, cedar, and charcoal, as well as hints of vanilla and crème de cassis, the wine is full-bodied while retaining that ethereal lightness that characterizes Lafite. Rich, with good acidity, remarkable precision, and freshness, it is a slightly livelier version of the 2009, but also more restrained and structured than that particular vintage. It will require at least 10 to 12 years of cellaring and will keep for 50 years or more." - Robert Parker

Histoire et anecdotes
The château located in Médoc, was classified as Premier Cru in the 1855 classification, in Pauillac appellation. The Château Lafite Rothschild history started in the 13th century.. Until the 17th century, the estate was a co-lordship whose co-owners received the rents from farmers who were cultivating the lands, some of which were already dedicated to the culture of vine. Between 1670 and 1680, Jacques de Ségure structured the vineyard. In 1868, Baron James de Rothschild acquired Château Lafite.
