CHATEAU BRANE CANTENAC, 2005

MARGAUX

"A sexy and elegant wine from the Lurton estate in Brane-Cantenac estate, this wine (a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, and the remainder Cabernet Franc) has a surprising nose of undergrowth, licorice, blackcurrant, plums, and spring flowers. Supple tannins, full-bodied opulence, magnificent texture, and lush richness make this wine from a large 180-acre vineyard a brilliant wine. Despite its surprising fragrance and lushness, its color seems to indicate that it is 3 or 4 years old, rather than a decade. This is a great winner from 2005 that should drink well for at least another 25 years. Drink between 2015 and 2040." - Robert Parker
