CHATEAU QUINTUS, 2022

PRIMEURS - LIVRAISON 2025

"The color of this Quintus is deep purple. The nose is intense, ripe without excess, with red and black fruits, fresh: complex, therefore, subtle. Then the wine moves forward, suave, never heavy, but powerful, covering the palate in all three dimensions: width, thickness and length. The Cabernet Franc (more than 40%) brings freshness, as well as structure, and is combined with the generous and fleshy Merlot, for a result, perhaps, never before achieved at Quintus. Superb." - Château Quintus

CHARACTERISTICS

CLASSIFICATION Grand Cru Saint-Emilion
ASSEMBLY 58.5% Merlot, 41.5% Cabernet Franc
VINTAGE 2022

"2022 is the first vintage, since the expansion of the property, entirely managed by the teams of Château Quintus from pruning to vinification. This year has allowed us to appropriate the rich palette of terroirs to bring out their best expression" - Château Quintus

VITICULTURE

The winter was relatively dry and within seasonal norms, but the beginning of spring was marked by a rainfall deficit. In spite of a frost episode which temporarily interrupted vegetative growth, the consequences were not long-lasting. The heat set in as early as April, with an early flowering, and the teams took measures to protect the grapes during a heat wave in mid-June. The summer was sunny and a light rain in August helped to cool the soil and even out the ripening process. The harvest at Château Quintus began on September 7 in excellent sanitary conditions, marking the earliest harvest since the creation of the property in 2011. A careful selection is made in the vineyard to get the best out of each plot. Despite the small size of the grapes, the 2022 vintage is of exceptional quality, with remarkable concentration and aromatics. The harvest went smoothly until September 28, benefiting from ideal weather conditions. The clay-limestone terroir of Saint-Emilion, particularly that of Quintus, stands out this year by retaining its freshness, while the grapes successfully adapted to the early heat and dryness.

MATURING The wine is aged in 62.9% new barrels.

History and anecdotes
Born from the union of the terroirs of Chateau L'Arrosée and Chateau Tertre Daugay acquired by the family company Domaine Clarence Dillon, Chateau Quintus is the fifth wine estate of the group. Located in Saint-Emilion, the name of the château comes from an ancient Gallo-Roman tradition of naming the fifth son by Quintus.
