Château d'Yquem is located on the left bank of the Garonne. The only terroir to have been classified as Premier Cru Supérieur of Sauternes and Barsac in 1855, the first vines were planted in the 16th century. The property remained within the Lur-Saluces family for more than 4 centuries. Since 1999, Bernard Arnault has become the majority shareholder.
