History and anecdotes
Located in Reims, Veuve Clicquot was founded in 1772 and has belonged to the LVMH Group since 1987. The reputation of the house is owed to Madame Clicquot who became prematurely widowed at the age of 27, and decided to continue her spouse’s businesses.
Madame Clicquot improved Champagne technical elaboration and invented the riddling table. She became one of the first businesswomen. As she was an important face of Champagne, she was nicknamed “Great Lady of Champagne”.
