M. CHAPOUTIER, L'ERMITE, 2019

HERMITAGE

"An incredibly dense elderberry fruit with aromas of raw meat, smoked bacon, balsamic vinegar, mushroom, and tar. But there are many other nuances in this stunning Hermitage! Gigantic yet fine tannins support the wide spectrum of the palate, which is filled to the brim with richness, while remaining so bright and clean. An astonishing stony minerality in an almost endless finish." - James Suckling

History and anecdotes
A true global reference, Maison Chapoutier is located in Tain l'Hermitage. Its history began in 1808 under the name Maison Calvet et Compagnie. In 1897, Marius Chapoutier, along with a partner, founded a company that would become the future Maison Chapoutier. Since 1989, the brilliant wine merchant and winemaker Michel Chapoutier has been leading the house. The Chapoutier empire has been built through successive vineyard acquisitions both in France and around the world.
