History and anecdotes
Château Le Pin is one of the estates whose reputation is inversely proportional to the vineyard’s surface area. Founded in 1842 in Etikhove (East-Flanders, Belgium) by Camille Thienpont, the family trading house quickly grew in Belgium and set up in Bordeaux in the beginning of the 20th century when they acquired Vieux Château Certan, also in Pomerol appellation, in 1924, and bought Château Le Pin in 1979.
1979. Le Pin was one of the first (with Valandraud and Thunevin) to initiate the “garage wines” movement. This name, even if it first seems undervalued, points out wines produced in such a small quantity that they could be made in a garage.
