CHATEAU LATOUR, 2009

PAUILLAC

" Composed of 91.3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8.7% Merlot, with a natural alcohol level just below 14%, the 2009 Latour resembles a clone of the superb 2003 vintage, but with a more pronounced structure, potentially even greater power, and exceptional longevity. This wine is an elixir of spectacular magnitude. It displays a dense purple color, accompanied by an extraordinarily flamboyant bouquet of black fruits, graphite, crushed stones, subtle wood hints, and a touch of wet steel. On the palate, it impresses with an explosive burst of juicy black and blue fruits, with notes of pencil lead and a chalky minerality. It is fully full-bodied yet maintains remarkable freshness, and its finish lasts over a minute. This is one of the most remarkable young wines I have ever tasted. Estimated lifespan? Without a doubt, it will last a century. Can it be enjoyed in ten years? Absolutely."
