CHATEAU LATOUR, 2007

PAUILLAC

" The 2007 Latour (the first wine produced in the newly renovated cellars) presents itself with a dense ruby/purple color and a sweet, expansive bouquet of black fruits and spring flowers, all intertwined with a striking minerality. On the palate, this wine reveals dense, medium to full-bodied flavors that are already showing notable evolution. The tannins are soft, the mouthfeel ample and generous, and the texture charming. Without a doubt, the 2007 Latour is one of the most enduring wines of this vintage and should keep for two decades or more. Recommended drinking period: 2010-2030."

History and anecdotes

The Château Latour history, classified as Premier Grand Cru in the 1855 classification, started in the 14th century when they built a fortified tower during the One Hundred Years War. Until the end of the 16th century, Latour was a co-lordship whose co-owners received rent from farmers who cultivated lands, some of which were already dedicated to the culture of the vines. Then, in the 18th century, the winegrowing saga speeded up when the marquis Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur, the “Prince of the vines”, also owner of Château Calon Ségur and Lafite, became the owner of the estate. Since 1993, François Pinault and the Artémis group have been the majority owner (93%) and 7% has belonged to the Ségur family’s heirs.

Château Latour left the En Primeur Allocation system. The Château only offers wines ready to drink, the commercialisation does not occur by La Place de Bordeaux anymore.
