CHATEAU SMITH HAUT LAFITTE BLANC, 2022

PRIMEURS - LIVRAISON 2025

" This zooms over the palate from the minute you taste it with energetic acidity, grapefruit, pear, lemon and white peach character. Dried, candied lemon. Crushed stone, too. Medium-bodied with polish and class. " - James Suckling

CHARACTERISTICS

CLASSIFICATION Grand Cru Classé
GRAPE VARIETIES 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Semillion, 5% Sauvignon Gris
2022 VINTAGE A cold, dry winter led to early budding in March. High temperatures and a lack of rain in spring, which was the hottest on record, resulted in early and uniform flowering. Thanks to the sustained efforts of our teams, stress on the vines was limited, particularly on the older plants, despite the hot, dry summer. Veraison took place rapidly at the end of July. A few rainy spells in the autumn, combined with the deep roots of the vines, kept the vineyard cool.
WINEMAKING The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed directly and gently in an inert environment. Fermentation takes place in barrels, 50% of which are new, from the cooperage based at the château.
AGEING The wines are aged on their lees for 12 months, with 50% new oak. After blending, additional ageing lasts for 3 months in vats.

The photo of the bottle is indicative. The bottle is kept in our warehouses. Thus the design and condition of the label may differ without affecting the quality of the wine.
