History and anecdotes
Roederer, founded in 1776, is one of the latest Champagne houses which still belongs to the founding family. In 1833, Louis Roderer inherited his uncle’s house and named it after himself. He decided to buy new vines plots, which was not common at the moment, in order to master his cuvée development better.
The iconic cuvée was made for the Tsar Alexander II of Russia in 1876.
