DOMAINE DE LA ROMANÉE-CONTI
The most popular estate of the region, the Romanée-Conti estate, has a long history that started in the 13th century when the priors planted the first vines. The name “Romanée” appeared for the first time in 1651. In 1794, the estate was named “Romanée Conty” after having belonged to Prince Louis-François de Bourbon-Conti. Then, in 1869, the estate was bought by Jacques-Marie Duvault and was then passed down to the Villaine family through his great-grandson. The Leroy family has been co-owner since 1942.
